I'd be happy for both the Isle and Luongo if that happened. But I'm not sure they can afford 2 billion dollars in goalies.

Is it not weird or sad that the Islanders are getting pats on the back and congratulations for getting knocked out in 6 in the first round? Should they receive a participation ribbon?

I don't think it's either. They were picked to finish near the bottom of the league and instead they matured in front of our eyes and played great hockey and with the lowest payroll in hockey they went toe to toe with one of the elite teams in the league and played in what most will call a very exciting 6 game series. It's been a long time coming and the Isles are finally back. Nobody is looking for anything.

Pretty sure the point here was (if you watched) the isles didn't get steamrolled and everyone expected them too. This series could have gone either way. Anyone who watched saw the isles (with the exception of game 1) were in this series and gave arguably the leagues best team a run for their money. This mind you is with one of the lowest payrolls in the league. This islander team is homegrown and they are only goin to get better with the likes of strome, neiderreiter, Nelson, lee, Donovan and Reinhardt knocking on the door.

You beat me to it.

Bottom line, you can't beat a team like Pittsburgh going 2-12 on the PP this series. One of the things the isles should be looking at this offseason is a point presence dman. Stanley cup teams have a threat from the point. The isles don't have that and it showed. I would love to know this stat......but I'd be willing to her the isles have the least amount of goals on the pp by a dman. Heck I'd be happy if we got someone who can actually get shots on net from the point.....someone with a real dirty clapper

They squeaked into the dance in a short season and were knocked out in 6 in the first round. They need a few players including a goal tender for them to be considered a contender. I don't hate the Isles and I love JT, I just don't get the love fest right now

They didn't squeak into the playoffs first off. They were in 6th spot and point out of the 5th seed with 3 games left. They finished 8th but finished 3 points out of the 5th spot I believe so lets not act like they were lucky to get in. The love fest is because this team has been pretty bad for the last 20 years and things are finally on the up and up with another wave of young exciting players on the way up very soon and that excites a lot of people. You might not get it but lots of hockey fans do. Not sure what else to tell you.

Still need a better goalie, Nabokov is not a clutch goalie. He still loves to give up the untimely goals. They are also in need of another top 4 defenseman. Other than that they look good to go. Looking ahead they got Strome and Niederreiter to help up front and Griffin Reinhart to help on D, the Isles are going to contend with the Pens all day. Just need to get that goalie...Luongo anyone??

Oh and moving to the Barclays center is going to be a big confidence boost for that team.

You don't have to tell me anything. The Islanders are not that good. They were the 8 seed and were eliminated in the first round by a team that had to play a backup goalie. I just don't get this whole " there back" after a first round exit. They have one great player, a few good ones and a average goalie.

Absolutely they are a few pieces away and I would think that will be addressed in the next season or two. This past season was just the first step
